Almaguin Highlands OPP officer charged with domestic assault

The OPP have charged one of their own in relation to a domestic incident in the Almaguin Highlands area.

On July 21, 2019, an off-duty Provincial Constable was charged in relation to a domestic incident which occurred in Perry Township, Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old male was arrested and charged with:

- Assault - Spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC), and
- Forcible Confinement, contrary to section 279(2)) of the CC.

The OPP say the officer is a 14-year member with the OPP and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Strong Township, on August 22, 2019.
