Charge withdrawn against Bancroft OPP officer

A Bancroft OPP officer no longer faces a charge of sexual assault.

The 51-year-old Bancroft man agreed to enter into a peace bond in court yesterday in Belleville and the charge was withdrawn.

The constable was charged by the OPP on November 26th, 2014 following a sexual assault investigation in the Bancroft area that began two days earlier.

The officer, who had been a member of the force for 29 years, had been suspended from duty with pay since he was charged.
