OPP loses Cavan-Monaghan Township to Peterborough Police

Viewed by many Ontario communities as an untenable financial burden, OPP costs continue to rise. Though often justified in the name of “public safety,” these escalating expenses raise a critical question: Who will rein in these costs, and at what price?

OPP loses Cavan-Monaghan Township to Peterborough Police

The OPP seem to be losing ground to the Peterborough police force in nearby townships.

Approval was given at the Council meeting last night for Peterborough police to take over service in Cavan Monaghan Township from the OPP.

Officials will continue negotiations with Duoro-Dummer Township and start talks with Havelock-Belmont Methuen.
