OPP officer faces careless driving charge following Hwy. 401 crash

CAMBRIDGE – Constable Gillian Coughlin, a 16-year veteran of the OPP, faces a careless driving charge in relation to a collision this past Friday (May 1) on Hwy. 401, near Hespeler Road.

The incident happened at about 5:35 p.m., heading eastbound, involving a fully marked OPP cruiser and a Land Rover SUV.

According to police, both vehicles remained drivable and no injuries were reported.

Officers from the OPP highway safety detachment and the Cambridge detachment led the investigation. A careless driving charge was announced Tuesday evening.

The accused officer is currently assigned to the South Porcupine OPP detachment.

16-year member of OPP charged with careless driving

A sixteen year member of the OPP has been charged with careless driving.

It’s after she was involved in a crash on Friday on the 401 with her marked OPP vehicle.

The two-vehicle crash happened near Highway 24 in Cambridge.

No one was hurt, and both vehicles were able to drive away.

OPP officer charged with careless driving in Cambridge crash

A provincial police officer has been charged with careless driving following a two-vehicle crash last week in Cambridge.

Police say no one was injured when a Ford Taurus fully marked O-P-P police vehicle collided with a Range Rover S-U-V on Highway 4-0-1.

Constable Gillian Coughlin - a 16-year veteran of the O-P-P currently assigned to the South Porcupine Detachment -- was charged under the Highway Act following an investigation.
