OPP costs one reason for tax increase in Trent Lakes

Viewed by many Ontario communities as an untenable financial burden, OPP costs continue to rise. Though often justified in the name of “public safety,” these escalating expenses raise a critical question: Who will rein in these costs, and at what price?

OPP costs one reason for tax increase in Trent Lakes

OPP costs increasing for Municipality of Trent Lakes by just over 21 percent to over $1.1 million for 2015.

Council will go over the projected 2015 budget tomorrow, a budget that will result in a 4.8 percent increase in taxes for the average property owner.

Also included are costs for a new fire hall, road work and equipment.
