A 29-year member of the OPP is charged with making an unsafe left turn just outside of Paris on June 26 this year.

Brant County OPP have charged one of their own after a crash in June sent that two drivers to hospital.

29-year member of the force, Inspector Dave Durant, is charged with Left Turn - fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.

Police say an investigation found that on June 26, Durant's OPP cruiser was heading west on Dundas Street East and crashed into an eastbound Honda when trying to make a left turn onto Paris Road.

The investigation also says Durant's emergency equipment was activated at the time.

Durant will be in Brantford court on September 16.

OPP OFFICER ISSUED A PROVINCIAL OFFENCES NOTICE - COLLISION

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) - A member of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been issued a provincial offences notice following a collision that occurred at around 8:30 a.m., on June 26, 2014.

Investigation determined that the Dodge police vehicle was travelling west on Dundas Street East with its emergency equipment activated. The police vehicle was attempting to turn south onto Paris Road when it collided with the Honda that was travelling east on Dundas Street.

Both drivers were transported to area hospitals where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

As a result of the investigation, Inspector Dave Durant, a 29-year member of the OPP has been issued a summons for the Highway Traffic Act offence of: Left turn- fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision. He will appear in a Provincial Offences Court in the City of Brantford on September 16, 2014.
