Chatham-Kent OPP officer charged with shoplifting in Leamington

LEAMINGTON, Ont. -- An OPP officer has been charged with shoplifting following an incident in Leamington.

The Ontario Provincial Police charged one of their own after responding to call from a loss-prevention officer at a Talbot Street address in Leamington shortly after 2:20 p.m. on Friday.

The suspect was an off-duty police officer from the Chatham-Kent OPP highway safety division.

The OPP charged Nicole Mailloux, 30, with one count of theft under $5,000. Mailloux has worked for the OPP for two years and has been placed on administrative duties.

She is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court in Leamington on Nov. 17.
