Post by Michael Jack »

WHITBY -- A Whitby OPP officer has been charged after a collision involving a cruiser and a truck hauling a trailer on Hwy. 401.

An investigation was launched after the collision, shortly after 8 a.m. July 25 in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 west of Henry Street.

Police said an officer in a marked cruiser was following a pickup hauling a utility trailer when the truck braked.

The officer moved to the right but rear-ended the trailer, OPP said.

No one was hurt in the incident and there was minor damage to the trailer and cruiser.

Constable Angela Dias, an eight-year member of the OPP currently working out of the Whitby detachment, has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
