Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke, Regional Supervising Coroner, West Region, London Office, has announced an inquest into the death of a man six years ago will begin next week.

Richard Racz, 61, died on April 14, 2018, following an interaction with officers from the Ontario Provincial Police in Perth County. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Racz’s death, according to a news release.

The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The inquest is expected to last eight days and hear from eight witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. Dr. John Carlisle will be the presiding officer and Indira Stewart will be inquest counsel.
