Off-duty OPP officer faces impaired charges in Stone Mills

A 33-year-old provincial police officer faces two charges of impaired operation of a vehicle following an incident Sunday night in Stone Mills Township, northwest of Kingston.

In a release, the OPP said that at 10:50 p.m., an OPP officer “was approached by an individual that had just exited their vehicle and was displaying potential signs of impairment.”

The person was arrested and transported to the L&A County detachment for further testing.

Following the investigation, Benjamin Snider has been charged with two counts of impaired driving.

“The investigation revealed that the accused is a Provincial Constable assigned to the OPP’s East Region with four years of service who was off duty at the time,” the OPP said in a release.

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.

A 33-year-old provincial police officer faces two charges of impaired operation of a vehicle following an incident in Stone Mills Township, northwest of Kingston.

According to a news release from the OPP, it happened shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday. An OPP officer was approached by an individual that had just exited their vehicle and was displaying potential signs of impairment.

The person, who was an off duty OPP officer, was arrested and transported to the L&A County detachment for further testing.

Following the investigation, Benjamin Snider has been charged with two counts of impaired driving.

An investigation revealed that the accused is a provincial constable currently assigned to the OPP’s East Region with four years of service.

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.

Off-duty OPP officer charged after late-night stop

An off-duty Ontario Provincial Police officer has been charged after an investigation in Stone Mills Township.

Lennox and Addington County OPP say an officer was approached by a man who had just exited his vehicle around 10:50 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25. Police say the man showed signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to the L&A County detachment for testing.

Police identified the accused as 33-year-old Benjamin Snider of Prince Edward County.

Investigators say Snider is a constable with the OPP East Region and was off duty.

Snider is charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

He is scheduled to appear in Court of Justice in Napanee on Feb. 10 next month there.

An off-duty OPP officer was charged with impaired operation in Stone Mills Township.

On January 25, 2026 at approximately 10:50 p.m., an L&A County OPP officer was approached by an individual that had just exited their vehicle and was displaying potential signs of impairment.

The individual was arrested and transported to the L&A County Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Benjamin Snider, age 33 of Prince Edward County, has been charged with the following:

- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The investigation revealed that the accused is a Provincial Constable assigned to the OPP’s East Region with four years of service who was off duty at the time.

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on February 10.
