A provincial police officer was injured after their cruiser was struck from behind at an accident scene along Highway 401 in Pickering.

The Ontario Provincial Police officer was at a crash scene near Whites Road investigating a separate crash when their vehicle was rear-ended, said the OPP’s Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

Officer rear-ended on Hwy. 401 in Pickering while investigating other crash: OP

An Ontario Provincial Police officer from Toronto suffered minor injuries after their vehicle was reportedly rear-ended on Highway 401 in Pickering on Friday morning.

It happened in the westbound lanes of the highway near Whites Road.

Police said the officer was investigating a separate collision in the area at the time.

The officer was not seriously injured.

“Driving conditions are much better this morning but your full attention is always required,” the OPP said in a post on social media.
