SIU to investigate injury sustained in May arrest, Lambton OPP say

The Special Investigations Unit will be investigating an injury sustained during an arrest last spring, Lambton OPP say.

According to the OPP, officers responded to an intimate partner violence call in Corunna on May 25, 2025, shortly before 8 p.m., and took one person into custody.

"Subsequent medical evaluation determined the individual sustained an injury during the arrest," the OPP said in a media release on Wednesday.

The SIU says the OPP became aware of the serious injury on Dec. 30 and contacted the SIU.

The OPP says the SIU has invoked its mandate, and the service will not be able to provide further information.

The SIU is tasked with investigating serious injuries and deaths involving police conduct, as well as allegations of sexual assault.
