Quinte West OPP officer charged regarding collision

Quinte West OPP officer charged regarding collision

A Quinte West OPP officer faces charges as a result a collision involving an OPP cruiser.

On May 23 Provincial Constable Amanda O'DONNELL, of the Ontario Provincial Police was charged with Red Light - Fail to Stop contrary to section 144(18) Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

The collision occurred on May 15 at approximately 8 p.m. at Dundas Street East and Byron Street in the City of Quinte West.

The subdued marked OPP cruiser was travelling eastbound on Dundas Street East with emergency lighting and sirens when it entered the intersection at Byron Street.

A passenger vehicle travelling northbound on Byron Street was also entering the intersection at the same time and struck the cruiser on the passenger side causing it to lose control and collide with a third vehicle which was stopped at the intersection facing westbound.

No injuries were reported resulting from the collision.

Dundas Street East was closed for approximately three hours due to the collision.
