Special Investigations Unit invokes investigative mandate into OPP arrest

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest in Lennox and Addington County, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
The independent civilian agency, which reviews police complaints involving injury, has not released any details on the investigation.
Police said in a release that on Wed., Dec. 24, 2025, around 8:30 p.m., members of the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service.
“While officers were attempting to take an individual into custody, the person sustained an injury and was transported to hospital,” police said.
“The OPP has notified the SIU, which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.”
