Wellington County OPP officer charged after two OPP vehicles collide

MINTO – An OPP officer with just one year on the job has been charged following a collision here involving two police vehicles.

On July 24, two Wellington County OPP officers were involved in a vehicle collision on Wellington Road 109 in Minto “while responding to a call for service,” police stated in an Aug. 18 press release.

“The collision involved two marked police cruisers. No injuries were reported.”

A Wellington County OPP provincial constable with one year of service was charged with following too closely.

Police did not release the name of the officer.

As of June 2, the Wellington County OPP is no longer providing the names of those charged with provincial offences.

Officer charged after crashing into OPP cruiser

A Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer with the Wellington County detachment has been charged with following too closely after crashing into a marked OPP cruiser while responding to a call for service.

On July 24, two officers were involved in a motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 109 in Minto.

The OPP said both vehicles were marked police cruisers.

The officer who crashed into the cruiser has one year of service and was issued a provincial offence notice.

OPP said there were no injuries.

The collision occurred on Wellington Road 109, in Minto while the police were responding to a call for service

MINTO TOWNSHIP - On July 24, 2022, two members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police were involved in a motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 109, Minto while responding to a call for service. The collision involved two marked police cruisers. No injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, a Wellington County OPP Provincial Constable with one year of service has been charged with follow too closely.

The officer was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.
