Two people, including a police officer, seriously injured
Ontario's police watchdog is investigating after a serious crash between a vehicle and police cruiser north of London Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews arrived to the intersection of Nairn Road and Centre Road in North Middlesex around 3:30 p.m., where they responded to the crash which involved an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle, according to police.
An OPP officer and the driver of the passenger vehicle were both taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Ontario's Special Investiations Unit (SIU) invoked its mandate and has begun investigating. The SIU investigates cases involving police and civilians that have resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
OPP closed the intersection of Nairn and Centre roads for several hours Sunday.

SIU investigating after OPP cruiser collides with vehicle in North Middlesex
Ontario's police watchdog has invoked its mandate following a serious crash in North Middlesex involving an OPP cruiser.
At around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, a passenger vehicle and an OPP cruiser collided at the intersection of Nairn Road and Centre Road.
Members of the Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and North Middlesex Fire Services responded.
Police said both the driver of the passenger vehicle and an OPP officer were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and OPP will not be providing further information regarding this incident.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
