Two-vehicle crash involving OPP cruiser in Midland

The intersection of Highway 12 and King Street in Midland was closed for several hours on Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser.

Police say the collision occurred around 2:15 p.m. when a cruiser responding to an unrelated call for service was involved.

"The officer involved in the collision was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The other involved driver was not transported to hospital," provincial police said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing.

Crash at Highway 12 and King Street one of three occuring on Midland roads this afternoon

Highway 12 is reopen after an incident involving a grey pickup truck and OPP cruiser on Monday afternoon.

According to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP, the incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. at Highway 12 and King St. in Midland.

The OPP, Midland Fire and County of Simcoe Paramedics, responded to a collision where a police vehicle responding to an unrelated call for service was involved.

The intersection was closed for several hours as emergency services attended to the scene.

The officer involved in the collision was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The other driver was not transported to hospital.

The OPP said that the investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP closed a section of Highway 12 Monday afternoon as police investigated a collision involving a grey pickup truck and cruiser.

Few details about the crash have been released, but the OPP detachment is located just down the road from where the incident occurred.

OPP cruiser involved in collision in Midland

Provincial police are investigating a collision involving an OPP cruiser in Midland on Monday.

The crash involving a pickup truck and the police vehicle happened in the King Street and Highway 12 intersection around 2:15 p.m.

According to an OPP spokesperson, the vehicle that was struck was in the area responding to an unrelated call.

The officer involved was sent to hospital with minor injuries while the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing but no cause into the crash was provided. There’s no word on any charges being laid.
