Case of OPP officer charged with obstructing justice in court Monday
The case of a 10-year Lambton OPP veteran charged with obstruction of justice and breach of trust will be in Sarnia court February after a preliminary appearance Monday morning.
Const. Craig Johnson, who was under investigation by the OPP’s professional standards unit through the better part of 2018, was arrested and charged Nov. 18, 2018.
Johnson, 31, is suspended with pay. Ontario is the province in Canada that doesn’t allow police chiefs to suspend officers without pay.
Johnson himself was not in court for his first appearance Monday morning. The exact reason for Johnson’s arrest was not discussed. During the return date Feb. 4 the court is expected to receive and review disclosure.
Police chiefs in the province are not allowed to suspend officers without pay.
