SIU investigating after OPP cruiser, pickup truck crash leaves 2 seriously injured
The province's police watchdog is investigating after a crash between a police cruiser and a pickup truck sent two people to hospital with serious injuries.
On Nov. 17, 2020 around 5:28 p.m., members of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County, Haldimand Fire Department and Haldimand County Paramedic Services responded to a two-vehicle, head-on crash on Haldimand Road 9, south of Caledonia.
The crash involved a fully-marked OPP cruiser and a pickup truck. Police say the lone occupant of each vehicle was taken to a hospital in Hamilton with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Haldimand Road 9 is closed to traffic between 5th Line and York Road for the investigation.
The OPP has notified the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate. The OPP says it will be unable to provide further information about the crash.
