Cop cruiser crashes into train at rail crossing: OPP

(MINAKI, ON) – Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene at a motor vehicle collision that occurred early this morning, July 27, 2016 on Highway 596 at the railway crossing in Minaki, Ontario.

An OPP officer driving a marked cruiser was travelling on Highway 596 and collided with a train at the railway crossing resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle.

The driver of the cruiser was not injured but as a precaution was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for medical attention.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are currently under investigation. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and the Kenora Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) are on scene. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
