Police had to issue two press releases about officers charged after collisions within hours of each other on Friday (June 12).
The first collision happened in Innerkip north of Woodstock on May 31 when a six-year veteran of the Ontario Provincial Police struck a car while turning out of a private drive at about 3:44 p.m.
On June 6, a rookie constable reversed into a car stopped at a red light after dealing with a complaint about a youth on a skateboard. It was about 8 p.m. on Queen Street in St. Mary’s.
Neither collision resulted in injuries or more than cosmetic damage to the vehicles. Both officers were charged with start from stopped position – not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.
The charges haven’t been proven in court.
