OPP officer charged with assault

Following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) into a domestic violence complaint, an East Algoma OPP officer was arrested and charged on Friday, October 31, 2014.

The 49 year-old female Provincial Constable has been charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.

The officer is a 13-year member with the OPP and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 2, 2014.

As with all domestic related incidents, the OPP does not release the name of the charged person to protect the privacy of victims of domestic violence.

NORTH BAY, Ont. - A female provincial police officer has been charged in an alleged domestic assault in North Bay.

OPP say the officer, who is 49, has been charged with assault following an investigation by the force's professional standards bureau.

They say she is a 13-year veteran of the force, but will not otherwise identify her in order to protect the alleged victim's privacy.

She is due in court on Dec. 2.
