22 of the 29 local OPP officers on province's sunshine list

Obscenely high and unsustainable policing costs. OPP bills are destroying communities its officers are supposed to protect. Apparent self-interest is cloaked in the guise of public safety needs. Where is the political outrage while OPP costs continue to climb? Who is going to bring policing costs in this province under control?

Twenty-two of the 29 officers at the Haliburton Highlands OPP detachment made the province’s “sunshine list” for 2014.

The public salary disclosure list, introduced by the Mike Harris government in the 1990s, makes public the names and salaries of provincial employees who earn $100,000 or more per year.

Sunshine salaries at the detachment for 2014 ranged from about $106,000 to approximately $138,000 for the detachment commander.

OPP officers throughout the province received an 8.55 per cent pay increase in 2014 as part of their collective agreement with the provincial government.
