OPP Union Wants Another Raise

Obscenely high and unsustainable policing costs. OPP bills are destroying communities its officers are supposed to protect. Apparent self-interest is cloaked in the guise of public safety needs. Where is the political outrage while OPP costs continue to climb? Who is going to bring policing costs in this province under control?

OPP Union Wants Another Raise

OPP Association President says they want another increase in new contract.

(Regional) - The head of the provincial police union says the government's goal of net zero sum in contract talks is "unrealistic.''

OPP Association President Jim Christie says they will "absolutely'' be looking for another increase this year.

Contract talks begin Monday.

After two years of pay freezes, OPP officers received an 8.5 per cent wage hike last year based on a "catch-up clause.''

Treasury Board president Deb Matthews says any new wage increases would have to be offset by savings in other areas.
