SIU investigating after OPP cruiser and motorcycle collide near Shelburne

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is examining the evidence surrounding a crash involving an OPP cruiser and motorcycle just south of Shelburne.

SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon has confirmed the civilian agency has invoked its mandate in relation to the collision occurring on Highway 10 near 25th Sideroad at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening (July 22).

According to Hudon, the motorcyclist has been transported to the Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) to be treated for a leg injury.

Dufferin OPP has reported both drivers involved in the crash were treated for their injuries in hospital.

The SIU investigation into the incident is at its very early stages.

The civilian agency launches a probe whenever there are allegations of a death, serious injury or sexual assault during the course of a police investigation.

As of 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Highway 10 remained closed between Highway 89 and 25 Sideroad due to the serious collision investigation.
