Cop up on assault count

A Huron County OPP officer has been charged with assault. A Huron OPP officer recently went to a home in Bluewater to investigate a report of a domestic assault. While at the scene, investigators learned of an historic assault. The name of the officer charged is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim but the OPP said the officer is a 13-year veteran. The officer has been placed on administrative duties until the matter is resolved. Wellington County OPP were brought in to charge the Huron officer with one count of assault. The officer is to appear in court in Goderich on Nov. 5.
