OPP officer charged following on-duty collision

A Huron County OPP officer has been charged following a collision on Brussels Line.

According to police the collision occurred Wednesday, October 14, at 4:50 p.m.

Police say the officer completed a traffic stop when he attempted to make a u-turn. The cruiser collided with another vehicle causing significant damage to both vehicles. Neither driver was injured.

As a result of an investigation the officer was charged with “Start from a stopped position – not in safety.”

The officer has served with the OPP for more than a year.

OPP officer charged after crash on Brussels Line

An OPP officer is charged with a provincial offence notice after doing a u-turn in Huron County and crashing into an oncoming vehicle.

In a news release Monday, police said the officer had just completed a traffic stop, when he attempted to make a u-turn on Brussels Line and collided with a southbound vehicle.

"The southbound vehicle rolled and came to rest on its side," after the crash which occurred last Thursday, the news release said.

Both vehicles were damaged, but neither driver was injured, police said.

The officer, who has been with the OPP just over a year, is charged with "start from a stopped position, not in safety."

Huron OPP Officer Charged After Collision

A rookie Huron County OPP officer has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act after a crash with a civilian vehicle.

Investigators say it was around 4:50 p.m. last Wednesday afternoon when an officer finished a traffic stop and attempted to make a u-turn on Brussels Line.

It was at that point the OPP says the officer’s fully marked cruiser collided with another vehicle, sending it rolling onto its side.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

As a result of the investigation Cst. Greg Blackwell, who has been an OPP officer for a little more than a year, has been charged with “Start from a stopped position – not in safety,” under the Highway Traffic Act.

HURON EAST, Ont. - A Huron County provincial police officer has been given a ticket after allegedly crashing his cruiser into another car.

Police say the officer had just finished a traffic stop in Huron East last Wednesday when he tried to make a U-turn and struck another vehicle.

They say the other vehicle rolled and ended up on its side.

Neither driver was hurt but both vehicles were significantly damaged.

Police say OPP Const. Greg Blackwell, who has been on the force for a year, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with unsafely starting from a stopped position.
