ALLISTON - A Nottawasaga OPP officer has been charged in a two-vehicle crash that happened last week on Highway 89 east of Alliston.

The crash happened around noon Friday, Feb. 13 at County Road 56 at the bottom of Sharp’s Hill. Police said a cruiser drove into a white Dodge Ram pickup truck while trying to turn around on the highway.

Police said the officer was conducting radar enforcement at the time.

There were no injuries.

The constable, a 31-year veteran with the OPP, has been charged with turn not in safety, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

This is the second Nottawasaga OPP officer to be charged in a collision in recent months.

At the end of November, an officer was charged with dangerous driving in relation to a three-vehicle crash that took place Nov. 3 on the 14th Line of New Tecumseth.
